Study confirms commercial feasibility of Skylon spaceplane
We were pleased to be able to attend the Reaction Engines presentation at the European Space Agency (ESA) headquarters on the commercial feasibility of a Skylon based European Launch Service Operator (S-ELSO).
The study, led by Reaction Engines and supported by various partners including London Economics, Thales Alenia Space, Airbus Defence and Space and Qinetiq, as well as 42 Technology, was funded by an ESA grant and explored the technical and financial potential of using Skylon as a European system to launch satellites.
The breadth of the study was impressive, as was the conclusion that a S-ELSO is an economically feasible proposition that could revolutionise the space industry.
