Movie inspiration meets medical innovation

Happy Halloween! I love this time of the year. Not just because of the free candy, but there’s something strangely medical about Halloween.

To celebrate the spooky season, I always embark on a movie marathon and each year I will watch a different film series. It was during Friday the 13th –  The Final Chapter (ironically named since there has been 8 subsequent films since) that I started thinking about the special effects and in particular creating blood and skin substitutes. So I decided to take a deep dive and explore the world of artificial blood and skin for medical applications in this month’s article!
